If you have an colostomy, or if you have and ilostomy, you should probably drink a lot of fluids. I found that if you keep a pitcher of lemonade and/or a pitcher of water (Brita is good) in your fridge, can help encourage you to drink more in the day.
If you have pain after eating a meal, try eating 5-6 small meals a day instead of eating 2-3 lager ones. This can really help you out if eating is a difficulty and can really get you eating more. However, this trick may not be practical in every circumstance, so I would suggest a few snacks during passing periods or when ever convenient and still eating a small meal with fellow co-workers or schoolmates.
If you have been suffering with Crohns or Colitis then you know all about malnourishment and what it is like to lose weight all the time. I know when I was about 80 lbs at age 14, I was always freezing in my house. I felt bad asking my family to raise the thermostat up and making them roast inside their own house; but that is when I found an instant cure. I looked through my closets and found this cozy heating blanket. During the night, I would wrap myself up in it and crank it up. This was a pretty good fix to the issue and pretty low cost. If you freeze at your own house and don't want to disturb your family or roommate, get your self a heated blanket. They really do the trick.
This tip will seem to be pretty obvious but not everyone will think of it. So if you haven't already, invest in a can or two of Febreze or other odor eliminator. This will keep you and your family able to enter the bathroom without being blown away by some putrid smell.
